PLEASE NOTE: A referral is required for all scans.

We cannot scan you without the referral from your medical practitioner.

PREPARATION

Upper Abdomen

Nothing to eat or drink for 6 hours before your appointment, except black tea/coffee or water.

Please continue to take all prescribed medication as normal. If you are diabetic, please check with your doctor. 

       
Renal or Kidney

We required you to come with a full bladder. Please empty your bladder one hour prior then drink 5 glasses (1 litre) of water. If your bladder is not full ten minutes before the scan please drink more water. If you are uncomfortably full you may let some out. Please continue to take all prescribed medication as normal. If you are diabetic, please check with your doctor.

       
Abdomen & Pelvis

Paediatric Ultrasound

 - No preparation for babies under 12 months.

 - Preparation for abdominal scans is 4 hours of no food or milk before the study. For those less than 3 years of age,    3 hours fasting is adequate.

 - Preparation for renal scans is lots of fluids given by mouth. If toilet trained, the child should have a full bladder.

 - You will need to look after and support your child that is being scanned.

Vascular Ultrasound

Obstetric Ultrasound
For dating scan less than 10 weeks, we require you to come with a full bladder. Please empty your bladder one hour prior then drink 5 glasses (1 litre) of water. If your bladder is not full ten minutes before the scan please drink more water. If you are uncomfortably full you may let some out.
For all other obstetric scans, no special preparation required.

WHAT TO BRING

You need a referral from your doctor, physio or midwife to be able to book an appointment.

Growth chart (if you have one for pregnancy scans).

All previous images and reports if you have them (i.e. X-ray, Ultrasound, CT or MRI).
